A community garden is a great way to get some of your produce locally and enjoy being outdoors even if you don't have a back yard to transform. Sarosh Anwar in Toronto explains the process. You will need a primary coordinator and a group of about 5-7 people. She tells us what to look for in the site itself: how much daylight does it get, are there drainage issues, is it easy to get to on foot for those that will be working there?
Other important steps are creating a good layout, a budget and getting permission from the town. It's never too early to start planning for next year!
