There is a new wind turbine design being developed at the Kyushu University in Japan.
They look more like giant round fans, with a brim diffuser designed to accelerate wind flow as it enters the turbine.
They call them Windlands Turbines, and they generate 2 to 3 times the power of conventional turbines.
The university team wants to build a massive windlands power plant with an output of 500,000 kilowatts. That's equivalent to the reactor at a nuclear power plant.
Inventor and professor Yuji Ohya believes there is a good chance that a Windlands farm off the coast can in fact replace a nuclear power plant!
