Fighting All The Good Fights

David Bronner, president of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps, is interviewed here by Amy Goodman of Democracy Now. Dr. Bronner's Soap is a long standing favorite in health food stores, and David Bronner, grandson of the founder speaks about GMOs, fair trade, the U.S. war on hemp and the company's support of Palestinian olive oil producers.

He is active in the fight to have GMO foods clearly labeled in the United States.

"Unlike every citizen in Europe, Japan, even China, 40 countries around the world, Americans do not have the right to know (if GMO crops are in the food we buy) ...genetic engineering in this country is generally done by chemical companies who have bought the seed industry...we do not have the right to opt out of this experiment on the American public of eating these genetically modified foods which have not been tested." he says.

He helped organize the referendum to have GMO foods clearly labeled, an effort which as of May 2012 resulted in enough signatures to put the issue on the ballot for a vote in California in November.

He speaks about legalizing hemp in the US, and the Fair Trade raw materials they support for the soap as well. The company buys 90% of their olive oil from Fair Trade producers in Palestine, for example.

They DO set a great example, and this is a fine product to support!
