In Miami Shores Village, Florida, there is a couple that had to rip up their vegetable garden because of a new ordinance prohibiting growing vegetables. They would have had to pay a fine of $50 per day if they didn't comply and stop growing produce. But they had been growing vegetables for 17 years!
The non-profit American libertarian public interest law firm Institute For Justice is challenging the senseless front yard vegetable garden ban. Their case aims to "vindicate the right of all Americans to peacefully use their property to support their own family."
The Institute For Justice has a Nation Food Freedom Initiative where they have taken on cases like The Minnesota Cottage Food Case and Oregon Raw Milk.
We'll certainly stay tuned for more details on this one as events unfold.
