Vandana Shiva, prominent environmental, social justice and anti-GMO activist, author and scholar speaks here about the work done at the organization she founded in 1987, Navdanya Biodiversity Conservation Farm and Bija Vidyapeeth.
She reiterates that ecological farming is pro-peace, pro- biodiversity, pro-culture and pro-livelihood for the poor.
Her organization, the Grandmother's University at Navdanya is both a research center, seed bank and organic farm.
"Our research is showing that ecological systems, biodiverse systems can produce 2-5 times more food per acre than the industrial monocultures and the lie of industrial farming, the lie of genetic engineering has been put to rest by the loving practices of this farm."
There is much more where this came from. Her vision for local food being produced everywhere, even inside every city, is awe-inspiring.
