Humans have basic needs which are aimed to be met through the economy. So what are those needs, exactly? There are several theories. One theory comes from Chilean economist Manfred Max-Neef who names nine: 1. Food, water, shelter 2. Participation 3. Idleness 4. Affection 5. Understanding, Learning 6. Creation 7. Identity 8.
