His inspiring message is that the holistic design system of permaculture integrates many different pieces of the whole puzzle: water harvesting, soil creation, energy systems, water systems, local economy and people systems together create a "permanent culture".
"It's an ethical design system. It's a system that takes knowledge of nature and the knowledge of natural systems and uses the connectivity of the elements to create a system that provides the needs of humanity in a way that endlessly enriches the life on earth and the living systems." says Lawton.
He believes people can become the most positive element in the environment, instead of the most negative, and that cities can become carbon positive, beneficial elements of the global environment!
