Toby Hemenway, teacher, consultant and lecturer on permaculture and ecological design throughout the U.S. and other countries, offers an enlightening lecture about the impact of agriculture.
But not just contemporary agriculture. We tend to think of Big Ag and factory farming as something that has been clearly harmful to the environment only since around the time of industrialism.
He makes the point that agriculture's negative effects on the eco systems began thousands of years ago, in fact there is not one eco system that is better off because of it!
But can permaculture save the world? Put the word sustainable aside for a moment. Mr. Hemenway wants us to think about how to be regenerative, not just sustainable, and he offers a few remarkable examples.
