Bamboo bikes are turning up all over the world! That's right, bamboo is a plant that's perfect for building the frame of a bike.

Bamboo is similar in strength to steel, and similar in weight to aluminum -- and doesn't need to be manufactured, just harvested!

Bamboo grows all over the place, so rapidly it's almost a weed. It even grows in NYC where the Bamboo Bike Studio teaches people to make their own bikes.

They also helped to start a factory in Ghana, with the goal of providing the lowest cost and highest value bicycles to people who want them most.
